Club History

Crondon Park is a family owned business. We met the previous owner Robert Orr in October 1989. The estate was originally owned by the Orr Family, who farmed Crondon valley for many years. The club owes a debt of gratitude to Robert Orr and his family for assistance in achieving the initial planning consent and for their cooperation with its current owners, the Fox family.

After several years of development, Crondon Park Golf Club opened on the 31st of May 1994. There was a queue waiting to tee off and Arthur Jenner paid his £10.00 green fee and was the first player to officially hit a golf ball from the first tee at 5am. Over the years we have staged some very prestigious golf tournaments, including Royal Variety Club charity events, with well-known celebrities. We boast the longest closing golf hole in the world and considered by many to be a formidable golf challenge for all standards of play. The Golf Club has one of the largest memberships in Essex, with all categories virtually full. We are constantly making improvements to the complex year on year. Because of this, our membership is inspired with our efforts. The courses have improved beyond recognition in the past twenty-four years; although delighted with the progress, we strive for perfection. Our new Head Greenkeeper Stewart Rogers and his enhanced team have made Crondon one of the finest courses in the County.

Following our opening, we subsequently commenced with weddings and functions, which very quickly became the financial provider for the club, allowing the club financial stability and the opportunity for the management to make further substantial investment. With the development of the Baronial Hall (circa 1606), we have become one of the most popular and successful function venues in Essex, currently staging over two hundred Weddings a year.

We have recently completed building a new lounge/meeting room (known as Masters Lounge) this room makes a perfect space for meetings/Power Point Presentations up to 100 people theatre style. Our new Fayreways Restaurant is now open for Sunday Lunches and private functions.

Our master plan includes the development of a Hotel, Leisure Centre and Housing Development. We are known as ‘The Venue for all Occasions’ the management team is determined to make Crondon Park Estate the premier leisure venue in Essex.
