Couples are increasingly looking outside of the usual spring and summer months for their wedding days.
Winter weddings can be a really cosy, intimate affair, and if you’re planning your big day for this season, we have the ideal winter wedding venue! With the ceremony, reception and accommodation all in one place, you won’t need to worry about the weather affecting travel plans for you or your guests.
Our beautiful, oak-beamed barn is steeped in history and charm, and you’ll find us nestled in the Essex countryside of Crondon Valley.
Why choose a winter wedding?
There are so many reasons to opt for a winter wedding. Aside from the fact that it’s a lot cheaper to get married in December, January or February, it also means you’re less likely to have to navigate a date that fits around people’s summer holidays.
Snow or frost against the jewel tones popular with winter weddings can also produce really stunning photos of your day, plus in our experience, people get to the dance floor much quicker at a winter wedding, thanks to it being darker outside! Add some candles or fairy lights and you’ve got the kind of atmosphere that’s hard to achieve with spring or summer dates!View Our Venue
Our winter wedding venue
We’re proud to have one of the most celebrated wedding venues in Essex. As well as winning the Countryside wedding venue category in the British Wedding Awards 2019, we were also pleased to be highly commended in the wedding barn venue category.
Our Baronial Hall is fully air-conditioned and temperature controlled, so no matter how cold it gets outside, you and your guests will stay warm and comfortable all day and evening. A stunning rosewood flooring and light oak beamed décor add to the character and charm of our venue, and you’ll also enjoy views of rolling countryside and our championship golf courses.View Our Dining Menu

Our winter wedding tips
Winter can be a great time of year to tie the knot, but there are a few things to consider that are unique to the season. We share our top tips:
- Send your save the date cards early
This is especially important if you’re having a wedding in the run up to Christmas or immediately after, as people are often busier at this time of the year with Christmas parties, work dos, or visiting friends and family.
- Plan extra travel time
With Crondon Park, luckily you and your guests won’t need to worry about travelling between a ceremony and reception, but it makes sense to advise them to leave a little extra time than normal to reach you in the first place, just in case there’s snow or ice on the roads.
- Get wedding insurance
We’d recommend wedding insurance whatever time of the year you’re saying “I do” but it’s especially worth considering in the winter, with adverse weather conditions, as well as more illnesses circulating in the colder months.
- Embrace the season
Winter weddings are perfect for making the most of candles and fairy lights. You could also introduce a fur wrap over your dress, or have fur shawls for your bridesmaids. Take advantage of the winter flowers in bloom by including deep red gerberas, roses, amaryllis and carnations to your bouquet or centrepieces.
What our guests say…
“We had the perfect day. Lindsey and the team were brilliant and were there to make our day run as seamlessly as possible, preventing us from any stress or drama at all. We love Crondon Park - it has a special place in our heart and we would highly recommend it to anyone considering booking their wedding there. Thank you.”
“We got married at Crondon last Friday and we cannot find the words to express how truly amazing our day was. We did the booking and planning through Fiona who was lovely and on the day we had Deborah who was just incredible - nothing was too much trouble and she really put us both at ease. The food was amazing and all of our guests commented on this as well as the beautiful venue. Wish we could do it all again. Thanks so much to everyone for really making this the best day of our lives.”
“Amazing venue and we had the best day. Maitre d’ was incredible and really helped to make the day as easy and smooth as possible. She is a real asset to your team.”
